Short-term Therapy

Short-term therapy is a focused block of counselling around a specific issue. It can be useful when you do not want open-ended therapy but need support with something current, urgent, or clearly defined.
Moffat offers short-term work when the goal is realistic for a limited number of sessions.
What short-term therapy can help with
Short-term sessions may support anxiety management, panic triggers, work stress, a relationship decision, separation, grief around a recent event, confidence before a change, or practical coping during a difficult season.
It may not be enough for complex trauma, long-standing patterns, severe risk, or issues that need deeper ongoing care. If more time is needed, Moffat will be direct about that.
What sessions are like
The first session clarifies the focus. From there, sessions stay close to the agreed goal while still allowing space for what comes up naturally.
Short-term work often includes reflection, practical tools, boundaries, communication, and a clearer plan for what you will do between sessions.
Starting with Moffat
You can book a consultation and explain what you want help with. Moffat can then advise whether short-term counselling is a good fit or whether open-ended support would be more useful.
