You do not need to arrive with everything organised
Some people worry that they need to explain their whole life clearly in the first session. You do not. It is enough to arrive with what feels most present.
The first session is partly about beginning to understand what has brought you here and what you hope might change.
It can help to notice your hopes
Before the session, you might ask yourself: What feels hardest right now? What would I like support with? What would make counselling feel useful?
These questions are optional. They are simply a way to begin.
Nerves are normal
Starting counselling can feel vulnerable. A good first step is not to perform openness, but to be honest about where you are. We can work from there.
